Defective Medical Device Litigation

Guidant • Medtronic •  Pacemakers and Defibrillators •

Modern medical technology saved many lives. Unfortunately, many of Body these medical devices are rushed to market without adequate testing or long-term research. Worse, sometimes the defects are known but not disclosed, or medical device complaints are ignored in pursuit of profit or fear of competition.

The Law Office of Carolyn St. Clair represents clients nationwide who have been harmed, injured or lost a loved one due to the side effects or engineering defects of defective medical devices. We represent individuals, class action or multi-district litigation plaintiff groups in holding the manufacturers responsible for injury, illness, disability or wrongful death caused by their faulty devices.

BREAKING RECALL - GUIDANT PACEMAKERS

guident pacemaker

3/21/2006 Panel cites Guidant patient-safety lapses
A twelve member panel reviewed Guidant's handling of heart-device flaws and criticized the
company for systemically failing to fully assess patient safety in deciding whether to publicize product failures. Further, Guidant relied on engineers, rather than doctors to report safety defects. Guidant had not told doctors for three years about an electrical flaw in one of its defibrillators -- implantable devices used to interrupt dangerously fast heartbeats.

In January 21, 2006: Guidant Corporation has recalled an additional 77,500 pacemakers that are defective that could cause serious injury and death. This is in addition to over 100,000 pacemakers and defibrillators and ICDs that have been recalled in the past year. Guidant knew of the serious malfunctions that could cause death in 2002, but did not notify the FDA until 2005. These devices are:
